Everything you need to get the most out of ICIDO — the LiDAR room scanner that finds you indoors and guides you to any spot.

Frequently asked questions

Which iPhones does ICIDO work on?

ICIDO needs the LiDAR sensor, which is on iPhone 12 Pro and later Pro models (Pro and Pro Max). On an iPhone without LiDAR the scanning features are disabled and the home screen shows “This device can’t scan.”

How do I make my first scan?

Tap New Scan, choose Indoor or Outdoor, then slowly sweep the camera around the room, covering the walls and the floor. Tap Save and give the place a name.

How does ICIDO know where I am?

Open a saved place, or tap Find Me on the home screen, and look around slowly. ICIDO compares what the camera sees against the map you scanned and works out which place you are in and where you are standing.

How do I navigate to a specific spot?

Tap the flag button to choose a destination, or tap the mini-map, or pick a room. A route appears drawn on the floor through the live camera, with the remaining distance shown as you walk.

Can I add to a scan later?

Yes. Long-press a place and choose Update Map (or use the button while navigating). The existing map is shown underneath as you scan, so it grows. Areas you re-scan densely are replaced with the new data; areas you don’t revisit are kept, along with the name, waypoints, and rooms.

Do I need an account?

Not to scan, navigate, tag, or open a place someone shared with you — all of that works signed out. You need an account only to back up your places to our server and to share or publish a place. Sign in with Apple takes one tap and needs no password. A website account is separate again, for the newsletter and beta testing.

What does registering on the website ask for?

Only if you choose to register here — the app never asks for any of it. Required: your name, email address, country, state or region, city, and preferred language. Everything else — user type, intended uses, mobility preferences, goals, community, beta testing, newsletter, developer and organization details — is optional and clearly marked as such. ICIDO never asks for medical diagnoses or health records. The Data Collection Policy lists every field individually.

Does it need an internet connection?

Not for the things you do in a building. Scanning, recognising a place, and navigating all work fully offline, because your maps live on your iPhone. The internet is used only for the things that need it: signing in, backing up or restoring your places if you turn backup on, and fetching a map from a published code. What you say to the app and what the camera sees never go online. The optional camera-vision model is delivered by the App Store the same way an app update is.

Can I share a scanned place with someone else?

Yes. A place exports as a single .spacemap file. Long-press the place and choose Share to AirDrop or send it, or Save to Files. The person receiving it can open it and navigate it.

Where is my data kept?

On your iPhone, unless you turn on backup. With backup on, your scanned places — their shape, layout, names and tags, and where each one is — are copied to our server in the United States, and nothing else is: what you say to the app, what the camera remembered, and your visit history stay on the device whatever you choose. Backup is off until you switch it on, and you can delete everything held for you from inside the app. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.

Can I change my details or delete my website account?

Yes. If you registered here, you can review and edit your whole profile at any time from your account page, change your communication preferences including the newsletter, remove optional information, request a copy of your data, or delete your account outright. Deleting your account erases your profile and consent records. None of this affects the app, which holds no account of any kind.

In-app manual

ICIDO includes a full manual on the device: open Settings → Help, which has one topic per feature and is kept in sync with the app. The first-run introduction can also be replayed from Settings.
